Celtic are the only club to have tabled an offer for Bolton Wanderers’ breakthrough talent Luca Connell as they engage in talks with the Trotters’ administrators over a deal, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that despite there being plenty of interest in the teenager, who emerged as a first team star for Bolton last season, the Hoops are the only club to have made an official offer for his signing, with a scholarship contract that is set to expire this summer.

It is stated that those currently in charge of managing the financially-stricken side are in discussions with Celtic over agreeing a fee for his departure, with training compensation all the Bhoys need to pay.

Opinion

With the likes of Wolves, Norwich City and Sheffield United all reportedly keen on Connell, the Bhoys must be hoping that none of the the Premier League teams make a move for his capture. The cross border rules mean that teams in Scotland have to pay a marginal fee in comparison to what an English side might have to but it appears as though they are not wasting any time in trying to get him over the line. His performances at a struggling Bolton side caught the eye but stepping up his game at a club who are looking to dominate their domestic league and cups as well as improve on the European stage is no easy task. Game time might be difficult to come by at Parkhead, with so much talent already in the midfield and so he must be willing to bide his time if he does move north of the border. He is definitely one for the future and it seems as though Celtic are at the front of the queue to get him on board – how long will that remain the case though?
