West Ham and Wolves have both tabled proposals in an effort to sign Porto forward Moussa Marega, according to Correio da Manhã.

The Portuguese newspaper has claimed that Leicester have also made contact over the Mali international, but none of the interested parties have come close to matching Porto’s £35.5million valuation of the 28-year-old.

It is understood that Marega wants to quit the Portuguese giants this summer, but mid-table clubs in the Premier League are unwilling to be the first big movers this summer when the top-six have been so quiet.

Good move for West Ham?

Marega has had a superb 2018/19 campaign for Porto, scoring 21 goals and supplying 11 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

The former Amiens attacker appears to have outgrown the Portuguese league so it might be a good time for him to move on this summer after a season in which he was directly involved in 32 goals.

West Ham could do with adding to their front line this summer.

Andy Carroll has already left the London Stadium while Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez might follow.

Marega would be a solid replacement for any of them, but there’s no way that the London club should be splashing out over £30million on the front-man when he is not at all proven outside of Portugal.

Likely to happen?

It would not be a shock if Manuel Pellegrini was to end his interest in Marega, simply due to Porto wanting so much money for him.

Marega would not be someone with massive resale value due to him being 28-years-old and there is also a bit of a risk due to him never playing in a major European league.

Leicester and Wolves will probably be in the same boat too here, and Marega may end up joining a team elsewhere in Europe unless Porto reduce their demands.
