West Ham are one of three Premier League sides interested in making a move for AC Milan midfielder Frank Kessie this summer, according to the Express.

The outlet report that AC Milan could be forced to sell Kessie during the current transfer window due to Financial Fair Play regulations, and that the Italian side could listen to offers of around £30million for the midfielder.

It is believed that West Ham could have significant funds available to strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s squad this summer, but the Hammers could face strong competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham and Arsenal for Kessie’s signature, with the midfielder understood to prefer a move to a team competing in Europe next term.

Good signing for West Ham?

It would be a real coup if West Ham were able to sign Kessie this summer, with the midfielder enjoying an excellent campaign with Milan last term scoring seven goals in 34 appearances as the Italian side finished fifth in Serie A.

Kessie is exactly the type of high profile signing Pellegrini will be wanting to make ahead of his second season in charge of the club, and with West Ham having suffered injury troubles in midfield last term to both Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere he would add some much needed strength to the club’s midfield depth.

At the age of just 22, Kessie still has plenty of room left for development and were the Hammers to secure his signature they could well end up being able to sell the midfielder on for a profit in future transfer windows if he performs well at the London Stadium.

Likely to happen?

West Ham are going to face strong competition for Kessie, with the 22-year-old thought to be wanting to join a side who have qualified for European competitions next season.

Given the Hammers only finished tenth in the Premier League last season, that would put them at a disadvantage to the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham who are also interested.

However, West Ham might be able to convince Kessie that they will make him a crucial figure in their midfield, with the other two sides interested already having a wealth of options in the centre of the pitch that the 22-year-old would have to compete with.
