Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has passed his medical at Man United, according to Sky Sports (transfer blog, Friday, 5.17pm).

He is signing a five-year deal worth £80k-a-week and there’s an option for an extra year for Man United that would keep him at Old Trafford until 2025.

The defender might not be the only star exiting Palace this summer, either.

Sky Sports (transfer blog, Friday, 3.59pm) has also reported that Wilfried Zaha wants to leave Palace, but stay in London for a club that can offer European football.

Chelsea have a transfer embargo on at the moment and it’s said that Arsenal will make an offer after holding preliminary talks.

VERDICT

There’s going to be a lot of pressure on Wan-Bissaka as he becomes the seventh most expensive defender in history and the most expensive senior player to have made less than 50 senior appearances. He becomes United’s and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s second summer signing after a deal for another 21-year-old, winger Daniel James from Swansea. It shows Solskjaer’s policy of buying players who can develop and become the new United nucleus after big-money transfers such as Paul Pogba have upset the equilibrium at Old Trafford. As for Zaha, we can’t see an Arsenal move coming off, with Palace slapping an £80million valuation on the attacker’s head – way more than Emery has to spend in the entire summer. And he’s got bigger problems than Arsenal’s attack to focus on. Palace don’t want to sell and they’ll be even less inclined after the loss of Bissaka, one of their most promising players. Losing Zaha and Wan-Bissaka would be a lot to take for Palace fans.
