Rangers left-back Lee Wallace is set to take a pay cut to move to Championship side Queens Park Rangers this summer, according to the Football Insider.

The outlet reports that Wallace has agreed terms over a contract with Queens Park Rangers, which would see his weekly wage decrease compared with his current deal at Ibrox.

It is believed that the 31-year-old has had a medical at the Championship club ahead of what would be a free transfer move from Rangers, after being left out of the first team by Steven Gerrard last term, with QPR set to announce his arrival in the coming week.

OPINION

Wallace’s time at Rangers looks to be over, with the left-back’s three year spell at Ibrox set to come to an end this summer. The 31-year-old was given just 55 minutes of football by Gerrard in his first season in charge, despite both Jon Flanagan and Borna Barisic struggling for consistency at times in Rangers’ left-back position. That suggests that a move away for Wallace is the best option, with the defender not wanting to end his career at a club where he has been frozen out of the first team picture. A move to Queens Park Rangers would see Wallace re-unite with former Rangers manager Mark Warburton, with the former Gers boss already signing him for the Scottish side in 2016. The defender has been a reliable performer for Rangers when given the opportunity to play and Gers supporters will be sad to see him leave, but will accept that it is probably the best solution for both parties ahead of next term.
