OPINION
Aston Villa are in for a big summer. The Midlands club are on the cusp of a return to the big time after three years away, and judging by the constant torrent of transfer rumours swirling around Dean Smith’s side, they intend to come back with a bang. The latest piece of speculation to pique interest at Villa Park is that the club are keen on Brighton defender Lewis Dunk. According to the Sun, the one cap England international features highly on Smith’s summer wishlist, and it’s easy to see why. Ever since the Seagulls returned to the top flight, Dunk has been one of their best players. He is a commanding and imposing figure at the heart of defence, and his reading of the game is second to none. Countless times he has intervened at vital moments to prevent certain goals on the south coast, and who knows where Albion would have been without him last season. Obviously any move for him would not come cheap, but should the Villans manage to pull off a swoop for the 27-year-old, they would be bringing in guaranteed quality ahead of their tilt at the top flight. This is a risk worth taking.
