Celtic fans should be getting worried after the latest transfer report has indicated that Leicester City could soon submit bids for two of their star first-team players.

The Daily Express has claimed that former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is keen on reuniting with Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney by bringing them to the Midlands this summer.

The newspaper says that with Ben Chilwell reportedly on the radar of Premier League champions Manchester City, Rodgers has identified Tierney as an ideal replacement at left-back.

What’s more, midfielder James Maddison is reportedly the subject of interest from Manchester United, meaning Rodgers could look to bring McGregor in if the England Under-21 international departs.

This is surely worrying news for Celtic fans, as Tierney and McGregor are two first-team players who you would think the club cannot afford to lose.

Tierney, despite enduring an injury-hit season and not performing to his best, definitely remains Celtic’s first-choice left-back and it would be a major blow to see him leave for Parkhead.

The Scotland international has been around for the entirety of the time it took for Celtic to win the treble treble and he has asserted himself as a really key player in the Hoops side.

As for McGregor, the midfielder played in all but three of Celtic’s Premiership games last term and chipped in with an impressive 10 assists in that competition.

It goes without saying that not only was McGregor a massive part of the reason why Celtic made it eight league titles in a row, but he is one of the crucial players in that midfield.

In terms of the likelihood of these moves going ahead, you would not bet against City bidding big money for Chilwell, as it is the only area in which they could possibly strengthen, due to the unreliability of the injury-prone Benjamin Mendy and the poor form of Danilo.

As for Maddison, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be planning on rebuilding his team around younger players who can liven up the team, and the 22-year-old midfielder certainly fits the bill.

Overall, only time will tell whether Leicester will go in for the Celtic duo, but as the Express report says, Neil Lennon’s side must be braced for bids.
