David Turnbull’s move to Celtic has hit a hitch after a problem with his medical, according to the Scottish Sun.

That comes after Neil Lennon had called the deal a “coup” and that he expected it to be concluded last Friday.

However, the Scottish Sun has now reported a problem with Turnbull’s knee, which has led to another round of talks between the two clubs.

It’s the latest in a protracted transfer that has taken several turns. Turnbull rejected an offer from Celtic and looked like he was heading to Norwich before changing his mind, with a £3.25million fee agreed.

However, after further tests this week his final destination is still not certain.

VERDICT

Turnbull’s potential transfer has already provided plenty of drama after Turnbull rejected Celtic’s offer. That led the Scottish champions to put out two tweets saying they would move on if the player and agent didn’t change their minds. With Norwich also interested it looked like he could be heading south of the border, but in the end, he decided a move to Celtic was the best for him. Motherwell would have been happy either way having accepted £3.25million bids from both clubs. Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber couldn’t resist a dig over the tweets saying he wouldn’t have wanted to join Celtic after their comments about the player. He also said he fully expected Turnbull to be a Premier League player in the future. That could still be on the cards unless Celtic can iron out the problem with his medical. Motherwell will be desperately hoping the deal does go through and that they can collect on a club-record fee.
