Tottenham are in the hunt to sign PSV star Hirving Lozano, according to Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato.

The Italian reporter has told CalcioNapoli24 that Spurs are eyeing up Lozano, 23, as a potential replacement for Heung-min Son, who has started to attract attention from Real Madrid.

“Tottenham have joined the race for Lozano since Real Madrid has targeted Son,” Venerato said.

It is understood that PSV want £44.5million for the Mexico international, who has been the subject of an offer from Napoli amid cooling interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.

Good move for Tottenham?

Spurs are better off trying to keep hold of Son.

The South Korea international is proven in the Premier League and while Lozano has been on fire in the Dutch Eredivisie and is clearly a good player, offloading Son to sign him as a replacement would be a big gamble.

Lozano scored 21 goals and supplied 12 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for PSV last season.

One of his goals came against Spurs in the Champions League group stages, while he also hit the back of the net against Ajax and Inter Milan in the 2018/19 campaign.

The Mexican forward would be a top addition for Tottenham, but only if they can get him without selling Son.

Likely to happen?

Spurs surely won’t get rid of Son.

Real Madrid may well be interested in the former Bayer Leverkusen star, but Tottenham are bound to reject anything that comes their way for him this summer.

And if Son doesn’t go, then Lozano is unlikely to head to North London.
