It was revealed on Wednesday morning that Christian Eriksen is ready to leave Tottenham in search of a fresh challenge. The Danish international admitted that he wants a step up in his career. Speaking in an interview with Ekstrabladet, Eriksen said: “I feel that I am a place in my career where I might want to try something new.” After helping Spurs reach their first ever Champions League final, it seems like the midfielder might want to move on. Real Madrid were reported by AS to have reached a verbal agreement for Eriksen in May, as speculation continues to increase with regards to his signature. Many Spurs fans did not react well to the news that one of their marquee players had admitted they will most likely be moving on in the summer on Twitter. The majority of fans seemed to turn on the Dane with one fan admitting: “Get rid of him so. Vastly overrated and get £120m for him”. Another went on to add, “He is so very replaceable”. Whether he goes or not remains to be seen, but he should have known the impact these sort of comments would have while he is still a Spurs player.
This is Futbol picked out some of the best tweets reacting to Eriksen’s interview below:
If he wants to leave and if the price is right for the club we should let him leave, don’t really want an unhappy player at the club

If he dont want to play for us then pack his bags and bring some good enough in to replace him who wants to wear the badge !!

Honestly believe he is overrated by so many. Stats only tell part of the story and he goes missing a lot of games.
If we get 80m then I’d take it in a heartbeat— Gary Ralph (@Gralphy101) June 5, 2019
Could be worse though. Don't get me wrong, he's been fantastic for us and sometimes irreplaceable. This season has been a decline in performances though. Maybe the best moment, or least worse, to cash in on him and sign a couple of quality midfielders.

Tough but not impossible. He's far too inconsistent to push us to the next level. If we get a good price for him early in the summer then I'd happily see him go. Time for a change for both parties.

He so very replaceable but we may to change the system. We over rely on him currently and the stats show that. The guy is bordering world class now. Interestingly though the club he wants really doesn’t have the money for him now
