Ryan Sessegnon’s proposed move to Tottenham all depends on whether Mauricio Pochettino is in charge next season, according to Football Insider.

The football outlet claim that the Fulham sensation has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the previous month, but his preferred destination is Tottenham.

Football Insider report that 19-year-old Sessegnon is excited by the prospect of working with Pochettino and that a potential deal between Fulham and Spurs over Sessegnon could also see the player’s brother, Steven, arrive at the club also.

It is believed Pochettino future is currently up in the air after he guided his Spurs side to their first ever Champions League final as he is waiting for assurances over the club’s ambition and whether he will be given funds to spend in the transfer window.

This is after Tottenham have failed to sign any player in the previous two windows under Daniel Levy.

OPINION

This will no doubt be bad news for Tottenham fans, in more ways than one. Firstly, they could be set to miss out on Sessegnon, who has been outstanding since he broke into the first team picture at Craven Cottage at just 16-years-old. Secondly, the future of club hero, Pochettino, is currently still in the air, despite last season’s success. Spurs’ fans will be angry with the break of this story, knowing that they could be set to lose two massive potential parts of the team going into next season. Sessegnon enjoyed a good spell at Fulham in their brief Premier League stay, making 35 appearances in which he scored twice and managed to assist a further six. The England flyer can play both as a left winger and a left-back which would give him a greater chance of breaking into Spurs’ first team. This could go one way or another for Tottenham, and the signatures of both Pochettino and Sessegnon have to be set as main priorities this summer. However soon as Pochettino’s future is tied up, it does seem like a deal for Sessegnon should be easy to seal as the manager’s uncertainty future seems to be the only thing putting this deal in doubt.
