Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has arrived at the Hummel Training Centre on Monday as he closes in on a loan move to Rangers, according to the Scottish Sun.

The report claims the 21-year-old is set to be the next Liverpool youngster to make the trip up north to play for Steven Gerrard and will take a medical before the move is confirmed.

It follows on from a very successful season-long loan at Rangers for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

Gerrard wants Kent back as well and the Scottish Sun claims that he is also keen on a return to Ibrox.

OPINION

Will Ojo be a Ryan Kent or an Ovie Ejaria? While Kent was a huge success for Rangers last season, Ejaria cut short his loan move from Liverpool in December after failing to settle in north of the border. Ejaria had started brightly enough but his form fell away after a knee injury in September and his loan deal was terminated by mutual consent. There’s always going to be a risk with young players but Ojo is a ‘huge natural talent’ according to John Gibbons of Liverpool blog The Anfield Wrap, and he spent last season on loan at Reims, after previous stints with Wigan, Wolves and Fulham, so a move to Scotland shouldn’t unsettle him. He signed a new five-year deal at Liverpool before his Reims move – a sign of the high regard he’s held in at Anfield – and the report claims Gerrard will be ‘thrilled’ about the move, so Rangers fans should be optimistic about the player working out. Ojo has already played eight times in the Premier League under Klopp too, registering three assists. The player the Rangers fans really want is Kent though. He had a standout season at Ibrox, winning the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year, and displayed plenty of passion for the cause, as evidenced in the Old Firm derby when he got involved with Scott Brown, an altercation that earned him a one-game suspension. Getting both Ojo and Kent would be a brilliant bit of business.
