Leeds United will offer Kemar Roofe a new contract worth £20,000-a-week, according to the Football Insider.

The 26-year-old is entering the last year of his current deal, and has yet to agree to terms on an extension, but it is understood that United will try and tempt him to stay with a pay hike.

The striker currently earns around £10,000-a-week, and it is believed that the club will look to double his wages.

OPINION

Getting Roofe tied down would be a brilliant move. There’s no doubting that he can be a massively influential player for this Leeds side, but his form has been shaky since his injury earlier in the year, and the fact that he has traded starting spots with Patrick Bamford has clearly forced him to question whether or not he should stay at Elland Road. The best way to allay his fears would be to offer him a deal, and you just hope that whatever is put on the table, whether it be £20,000-a-week or something else, is enough. Doubling his wages would be a fantastic move for the player, especially bearing in mind the barren spell he endured during the second half of the season, so if he were to turn that down or demand more, you would perhaps worry about his priorities and whether or not he is the right man to lead the line in next season’s promotion bid.
