Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is set for a meeting with PSG president Nasser Al-Kehlaifi, according to journalist Tariq Panja.

The Yorkshire giants had been linked with a shock move from the Qatari-based figure, but those rumours seemed to cool in the last week or so.

Now, however, Panja claims that Al-Kehlaifi is back in touch with Radrizzani and is interested in buying a stake in the club.

Responding to the claim on Twitter, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay said: “This one isn’t going away, it has to be said”.

OPINION

This is a turn up for the books. It looked for all the world as if this deal was to be consigned to the scrapheap of pipe dreams that never happened, but out of nowhere it has risen like a phoenix. This also sounds a lot more promising from a business point of view. Rather than a straight up buyout, this appears to be a case of Al-Khelaifi buying a stake. That would probably allow Radrizzani to stay on as owner, but would give United more clout in the transfer market. That would be the best of both worlds, and could be ideal as they bid to make it back to the Premier League. Is a deal likely? Honestly, who can say? But it is worth noting that Hay seems impressed by the sticking power of the rumours too. This could be a long, interesting summer for Leeds, but it would be made a whole lot more exciting by a sudden injection of cash from a very wealthy businessman.
