Bobby Zamora heaped praise on West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini and shared he hopes the 26-year-old signs a long-term contract with the club.

The former Hammers forward revealed that he thought Lanzini was one of the most eye-catching players in the Premier League and believes that the attacking midfielder can help the club if he sticks around.

“Fantastic talent, certainly one of the top players, most eye-catching players in the Premier League for me,” said Zamora in an interview with Ian Abrahams, as seen on the broadcaster’s Twitter account.

“So yeah, I hope he signs a long-term deal to stay at the club and help West Ham progress.”

Claret & Hugh previously reported that West Ham are in talks with Lanzini over a new deal as they’re hoping to get him to sign a new three or four-year deal.

OPINION

Lanzini is currently contracted to stay at the Hammers until 2020, so the club have plenty of time to sort out a new deal for him. However it does seem like the Hammers want to guarantee his long-term future sooner rather than later and who can blame them? Lanzini is worth his weight in gold and is a fantastic player to have on the club’s books. The 26-year-old returned from a serious injury last season in order to make 10 appearances and despite still not being 100%, still managed to score a goal and assist two in his outings. It’s easy to believe that Lanzini is set for a spectacular 2019/20 campaign if he performs to the level he is capable of as well as avoids injury, and perhaps the Hammers are scared that a team will try to poach him in the January window if he excels like they know he is capable of. Yet hopefully Lanzini’s long-term future is at the London Stadium like Zamora hopes, as there ain’t nobody like Lanzini.
