It has been years of change for everyone surrounded at Wolves – with the club officially going in only one direction, and that is up after an excellent first season back in the Premier League.

With the added investment and great leadership from Nuno Espirito Santo, the Molineux club will be competing in European qualifiers next season with the chance to compete in the Europa League.

A great reason behind their success is the partnership that has been formed between Portuguese duo Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho in midfield. Their ability to spot any pass and coolness on the ball is a huge part behind Wolves’ possession based football which has won them so many new plaudits.

With the added pressure of European football being put on them next season, Wolves have already identified a target to boost their midfield ranks. Bolton’s Luca Connell is the latest name to be linked, by the Scottish Sun, with the club and Wolves will have to battle it out with Celtic, Rangers, Southampton and Brighton for Connell’s signature.

This move could turn out to be a masterstroke should Nuno be able to pull it off.

Connell would join a club with a midfield full of experience – being able to pick the brains of a young midfielder who has Champions League experience in Neves and a 114 cap international in Moutinho – Connell could become a much better player just from listening to their advice.

The only problem that would surround the move is the potential lack of football that Wolves could offer the young Irishman. The 18-year-old would have to settle for a season filled with less game time, but the positives certainly outweigh the negatives for the youngster.

Connell made 12 appearances for Bolton last season, and his ability really shone through. The chance to now move on has presented itself and a move to Wolves would definitely be the best of the bunch.
