Wolves have opened talks to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson this summer, according to the Express.

The outlet report that Wolves are in talks with the Europa League side to sign the 24-year-old, with the midfielder thought to be valued at around £22million by the French club.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could be in need of strengthening their squad this summer after qualifying for next season’s Europa League, and the former France Under-21 international is a player Wolves are thought to be interested in making a move for during the summer transfer window.

Good signing for Wolves?

Sanson could prove to be a very useful addition to Nuno’s side if Wolves manage to secure a deal for the midfielder this summer, with the 24-year-old enjoying an impressive campaign last term in Ligue 1.

The midfielder managed to score five goals and provide a further three assist for Marseille in 27 appearances last term, suggesting he could be an ideal player to have alongside the likes of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho next season.

Sanson could also be very useful in Nuno’s system with the midfielder having the flexibility to play in the centre of midfielder, or from either side of the pitch which would increase Wolves’ options as they look to balance domestic and European football next season.

Likely to happen?

Wolves, according to the Express report, are in talks to sign to Sanson, so there is plenty of time left in the summer window for the club to arrange a deal with Marseille.

Much could depend on whether Wolves are willing to meet the French club’s believed valuation of around £22 million for the midfielder, or whether they decide to move on to less expensive targets.

Wolves would be able offer Sanson the opportunity to play in the Europa League next season, which might prove pivotal in convincing the midfielder to move to the club this summer.
