West Ham are interested in signing Fenerbahce left-back Hasan Ali Kaldirim, according to BBC Sport.

The broadcaster claims that talks are underway between the Hammers and the agent of the 30-time Turkey international, who reportedly has a £4.2million release clause in a contract that expires next summer.

BBC Sport adds that Fenerbahce captain Kaldirim – who chipped in with three goals and five assists in 41 appearances last season – is keen on a move to the English top flight.

Good move for West Ham?

Definitely. While first-choice left-back Arthur Masuaku has well and truly nailed down a spot in the first-team, there has been talk that second-choice Aaron Creswell could leave the London Stadium for Everton, which would open the door for Kaldirim to come in. He would be a great addition too. He is the captain of Fenerbahce, while he also chipped in with three goals and five assists. These two things show that while he has good leadership skills having already been a captain, he can go forward and help the team with vital goal contributions. And if West Ham can get Kaldirim for £4.2million – as the BBC Sport report says they could – that would be a great bit of business from Manuel Pellegrini.

Likely to happen?

There has been talk that Cresswell could leave, with Everton reportedly interested in his signature [Football Insider]. Should that move happen – or should Cresswell leave in any case – then there is a good chance that Kaldirim could come in to replace him. But it remains to be seen, and this one is definitely one to keep an eye on.
