West Ham United have made their summer plans clear – sell the ageing fringe players in their squad, which will allow them to bring in fresh talent ahead of a push for European football next season.

With players such as Andy Carroll, Adrian and Samir Nasri confirmed to leave the club, Manuel Pellegrini has already brought in two goalkeepers in backup to Polish star Lukas Fabianski.

Now that the Hammers’ business has been completed in-between the sticks, the London club will now look to strengthen their midfield after the £8million departure of Edimilson Fernandes was confirmed on Monday.

The latest link to the club will no doubt excite West Ham fans, with the Hammers’ making an enquiry for the Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan, according to the Daily Star.

The Spanish midfielder has entered the final year of his contract at Eibar and has a reported release clause of just £13.3million.

At only 24-years-old, Jordan would fit the bill perfectly at the London Stadium, with Pellegrini in search of a midfield talent that offers more in an attacking sense, compared to the more defensive duo of Declan Rice and Mark Noble.

Arsenal are also reportedly holding an interest in the midfielder, and if West Ham could beat the Gunners to his signature, they would send out a real signal of intent ahead of the next Premier League season.

The Hammer’s London rivals would end up kicking themselves if Jordan joined Pellegrini’s side instead, as he seems to have the quality needed to do well in the Premier League.

Given that Jordan has a release clause, the Hammers should be able to swiftly get a deal done to beat Arsenal to the punch and could play a blinder in doing so.

Jordan would be a bargain if West Ham could confirm his signature for his release clause, after having an outstanding season at Eibar.

The midfielder was a mainstay at the Spanish club, making 36 league appearances, scoring four and assisting four goals as his side finished in mid-table comfortably in La Liga.
