Europa League semi-finalists Valencia are lining up an £8million move for West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claims that the Spanish giants are ready to swoop for the Mexican international, who will be allowed to leave the London Stadium for the right price this summer.

The 30-year-old could be included in a clear-out at West Ham this off season, with Andy Carroll, Samir Nasri and Adrian all to be released and Lucas Perez likely on his way out.

The former Manchester United man scored eight times in 28 games for the Hammers this campaign, but could now be set for a return to Spain, where he previously had a loan spell with Real Madrid.

Good move for West Ham?

It’s about time that Manuel Pellegrini shipped Hernandez out, yes. He’s been a decent player for the east London outfit, but he’s never really hit the heights of his United or Bayer Leverkusen days. Given the fact that he is one of the team’s biggest earners, it’s probably right to get off the wage bill if they can this summer.

Valencia have long been linked with a move for the veteran frontman and are seemingly keen once again to add him to their ranks.£8million probably isn’t as much as the Hammers would ideally want for him, but it’s a fair amount for where he is at this stage of his career.

Likely to happen?

There’s no reason why not, is there? West Ham want to get Hernandez off their books and Valencia are seemingly ready to stump up the cash for him. As mentioned, it’s probably not quite as much as they’d ideally want for him, but it’s best to cut your losses here, surely.
