Pedro Obiang could leave West Ham this summer, according to Italian outlet GialloRossi.Net

The 6’1″ midfielder [Transfermarkt] made 29 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions this season, but could be on his way back to Italy after having signed for the club from Sampdoria in 2015.

It is understood that Obiang’s agent has met with Roma over a potential move for the player, with the Serie A side failing to tie up a deal for him in January.

Good move for West Ham?

If they can get a decent price for Obiang, then why not? The 29 appearances are a relatively misleading figure, and give the impression of a player who was a lot more important to West Ham than he actually was. Rarely did Obiang start, and Manuel Pellegrini’s go to duo of Declan Rice and Mark Noble seems like a fairly settled pair. With Jack Wilshere back to fitness and with the likelihood of a busy summer on the horizon in east London, it’s probably fair to assume that Obiang is pretty much surplus to requirements. Move him on.

Likely to happen?

If his agent has actually met with Roma, then the chances are fairy high. It’s probably fair to assume that the Irons wouldn’t stand in the way of a move too much, and so ultimately it comes down to whether or not a fee can be agreed. How highly West Ham value Obiang is unknown, but you would expect them to be reasonable in their demands. Even if it isn’t Roma, you can easily foresee Obiang leaving this summer, one way or another.
