Rodney Marsh took a dig at West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere after BBC journalist Francis Keogh heaped praise on the club’s midfield options.
Keogh shared that he thought the Hammers had a decent squad of midfielders, assuming they all stay and remain injury free, after the club confirmed they had signed Pablo Fornals.
“West Ham have a decent squad of midfielders – assuming they stay, and stay injury free Rice, Wilshere, Lanzini, Fornals, Noble…and more,” wrote the journalist on his personal Twitter account.
Marsh replied to Keogh’s praise of the Hammers midfield options in order to take a dig at Wilshere by asking if the 27-year-old had come out of retirement.

OPINION
Was that tweet really necessary by Marsh? The pundit is clearly taking a dig at Wilshere over his injury problems and it just seems unneeded. Wilshere, who earns £100,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), had an injury-hit debut season at the London Stadium in his 2018/19 campaign, but that wasn’t his fault. The 27-year-old managed to make only nine appearances across all competitions and it’s easy to imagine he is sad at how his latest campaign went. When fit Wilshere is a tremendous midfielder for Manuel Pellegrini to call upon and he should be respected. While Marsh probably will end up enjoying the attention his remarks about Wilshere get him, hopefully the player ends up making him regret his words. Wilshere is more than capable of being a success story at the London club in his 2019/20 campaign, he just needs to play to the best of ability and cross his fingers that he avoids picking up an injury.
