Tony Cascarino sent West Ham a message after hearing they had effectively thanked Liverpool on Twitter for beating Tottenham in the Champions League final.

The Hammers’ official Twitter account sent the Reds a message to congratulate them on beating Spurs 1-0 on Saturday, and Cascarino responded in a sarcastic manner when he was told about the tweet.

“Huge congratulations to on behalf of literally everyone at West Ham United,” wrote the club.

The pundit shared that he just wanted to say thank you to the Hammers for taking two points off Liverpool when the teams met at the London Stadium as it ended up denying Jurgen Klopp’s side the Premier League title.

“Can I just say West Ham, your club and your fans, thank you for that two points you took off Liverpool at the London Stadium to deny Liverpool winning the title, thank you very much,” said Cascarino on talkSPORT (Sunday June 2nd, 09:53am).

“Cause I was there and Liverpool took the lead.”

OPINION

Well it seems Cascarino knows who he is blaming for Manchester City beating Liverpool to the league title in the 2018/19 campaign, and that is the Hammers. Manuel Pellegrini’s side drew 1-1 with the Reds at the London Stadium in February and in hindsight, if the Reds had achieved victory then they would have added the Premier League and the Champions League trophy to their cabinet this season. Liverpool only finished one-point behind eventual winners Manchester City after all. However that wasn’t the case and the Reds should just aim to go one better next time in the league. West Ham will likely not be bothered by Cascarino’s sarcastic remarks, and if anything take it as a compliment that the pundit thinks they decided where the league title ended up. The Hammers’ official Twitter account had some fun on Saturday by mocking the club’s rivals, Tottenham, for losing the final; but in reality some West Ham fans were probably bitter Mauricio Pochettino’s side even got that far in the tournament.
