Cirencester Town forward Owen Windsor is close to agreeing to a deal with West Bromwich Albion, according to Gloucestershire Live.

The newspaper report that Cirencester Town forward is on the verge of agreeing to join West Brom and was previously on the books at of Swindon Town and Southampton.

The outlet also claim that the youngster’s performances have attracted attention from a number of clubs, including Chelsea, however Windsor looks close to making the switch to the Hawthorns.

The 17-year old has scored six goals over seven appearances for Cirencester in the Southern League Division One South, who were beaten by Cinderford Town in the play-off semi-finals last season.

Good move for West Brom?

This is a hard one to assess, as the player is virtually unknown.

The move could be a good one, and there is obviously some potential there with Windsor, who has clearly impressed this season if there are reportedly Chelsea scouts also keeping tabs on him.

He won’t cost the club too much money, so effectively there isn’t much to lose for the Baggies, but the move won’t be too impressive to fans of the club, and there’s no doubt about that.

Likely to happen?

It seems likely that this move will happen, due to the massive step up in level that would be available for the 17-year old.

It seems highly unlikely that Windsor would turn down a move to the Championship if the offer came to fruition, as it would give him a huge chance to further his career in professional football and really make a name for himself in the sport.

From West Brom’s perspective, if they’ve seen something in the youngster, then there is no reason why they shouldn’t try to bring him to the Hawthorns, and use him as a prodigy and a future prospect for the club going forward.
