COMMENTARY
Many Aston Villa fans are against their club splashing the cash on Liverpool attacker Harry Wilson this summer after it was reported by the Mirror that he’d cost £21million. The Mirror reported that the Villans were one of a number of teams chasing the 22-year-old winger, but it seems despite his impressive 2018/19 season on loan at Derby, many supporters weren’t keen on their club signing him due to his price. The newspaper claimed that Liverpool were ready to see clubs scramble to win Wilson’s signature, and clearly that has led to them believing they can push their luck with the player’s price tag, and who can blame them? Someone is probably silly enough to pay it. Wilson may have scored 18 goals and six assists for Derby in the Championship last season, but he hasn’t proven himself in the top-flight as of yet. While the winger will surely get better given his age, paying above £20million on just raw potential seems crazy. So it’s no surprise that one Villans fan would rather just utilise Conor Hourihane, while several simply said no thanks.

Ridiculous how much the top 6 ask for young British players that these clubs don't really want! Too many young players don't get to fullfil their potential cos they are left to rot in the kids teams or constantly loaned out to lower leagues until their not young anymore #AVFC

Nowhere near that level currently. Don’t see him controlling or dictating games & that’s what you expect from that price. Undoubtedly good at set pieces & shooting from range. Can’t see any truth in this from a Villa perspective.

Main asset is set pieces and we already have Hourihane

£21m is a joke. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Much better value for money if you shop abroad. #avfc https://t.co/MdNSoseaSM
