Many Aston Villa fans will lose all hope that their club are going to sign Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe after his latest Instagram post.

The Daily Mirror previously stomped on the chances of the 21-year-old centre-back turning his recent loan spell into a permanent move by claiming  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be giving the 21-year-old centre-half a full pre-season to gauge his development.

The newspaper noted that Villa would be told to forget about signing Tuanzebe for this reason.

However reports have been wrong in the past and given how good he was at Villa Park last season, many Aston Villa supporters probably kept clutching to straws that a move for him was possible.

Tuanzebe played 30 times across all competitions in his 2018/19 campaign and was a rock at the back alongside Tyrone Mings.

The 21-year-old was also clearly rated by Dean Smith ahead of his other options as the centre-back played every minute of the Championship play-offs.

Given how much was on the line for the Villans during those matches, Smith clearly only played the players he could fully trust.

Yet it seems very likely that any Aston Villa fan still holding out for Tuanzebe’s permanent arrival, will have lost any hope that a deal was about to happen on Thursday.

This is because the 21-year-old took to his personal Instagram account to thank Villans supporters for a memorable season and shared several pictures of himself in action.

“Thank you for a memorable season!” wrote Tuanzebe.

When you consider that Tuanzebe waited a notable period of time before saying thank you, he didn’t instantly appear to be saying goodbye after the play-off final, you feel he has been informed about his future.

The defender’s short post seems like his way of saying goodbye and he wouldn’t be doing that if there’s any chance he is going to join on a permanent basis.

So for that reason, it’s highly likely that there will be any Villans fan clutching to straws over Tuanzebe signing anymore, as surely his social media activity is the final nail in the coffin regarding a potential move.
