Tottenham owner Daniel Levy has come face-to-face with Real Madrid owner Florentino Perez at the Champions League final as the Spanish club prepare for a long summer of negotiations over Christian Eriksen, according to AS.

The Spanish publication reported the face-to-face meet before Saturday’s huge match and claimed that Madrid are not willing to pay any more than £62million for the playmaker, with Perez said to be expecting a tough negotiation.

Real Madrid have reportedly held a big interest in the Danish international for quite some time with early reports claiming Eriksen has verbally agreed to join the Spanish giants.

Eriksen has enjoyed a great season under Mauricio Pochettino, scoring eight while assisting 12 goals in his 35 Premier League appearances.

OPINION

This one particular rumour may be haunting Tottenham fans for the rest of the summer and transfer window. Danish international Eriksen is the one player that Spurs fans would hate to lose, but the draw of Real Madrid seems to be having a big pulling effect in this story. Florentino Perez seems set on his man with the constant stream of rumours that are surrounding Eriksen, who could have played his final game for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in their Champions League final disappointment on Saturday. The only positive surrounding this rumour, would be the fact that Spurs should receive a large sum of money that could be used to bring in another creative midfielder. The recently linked James Maddison would be the perfect replacement, with the England youth international having created the most chances in the Premier League this season. Either way, there is no nice to put it and no story regarding Eriksen at this time is going to be positive, unless your a Spurs fan. If the Dane wants to leave then there isn’t much the club can do but get up and get searching for another replacement.
