Given the colossal impact that manager Mauricio Pochettino has had at Tottenham Hotspur since joining the north London side, the club’s supporters will always be concerned that someone is going to swoop in for him.

Those panic levels have likely reached breaking point throughout this season and into the summer. If it’s not Manchester United it’s Real Madrid; someone is always sniffing round the Argentine.

However, it’s the update provided to Sky Sports News by Italian football expert Adam Digby that will really cause the Spurs faithful to have their heads in their hands.

“They’re looking at Pep Guardiola and we know they’re looking at Mauricio Pochettino. They’re still trying to target one of those two, but keeping Maurizio Sarri as a fall-back option,” he said about Serie A champions’ Juventus’s search for a new boss.

That’s very concerning news, because Chelsea chief Sarri had seemed to emerge as the leading candidate for the vacant position in Turin. Now, though, it seems that Pochettino is one of the two men that Juve are specifically targeting.

When you think of who is more likely to leave their respective clubs, Pochettino at Tottenham or Guardiola at Manchester City, you have to think it’s the man in charge at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Obviously a lot depends on Saturday’s Champions League final. If Spurs pull off the upset then you’d imagine Pochettino will be looking for the exit door this summer, having achieved more than he likely ever thought possible in north London.

However, if his team lose, Pochettino may equally feel that he’s taken his team as far as they can go. That seems rather unlikely, but you never know.

Either way the spectre of one of European football’s most historic teams in Juventus looms like an ever-darkening cloud over the Tottenham supporters. All they can do is pray that Pochettino resists the siren calls coming from Turin.
