Tottenham could be convinced to sell Hugo Lloris and sign a replacement if a mega money offer is tabled for his services this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Lilywhites are reluctant to let their French stopper, who is also the first team captain, leave while the player himself is said to have no intentions to move away from north London.

However, it is stated that a huge fee could turn Tottenham’s head, while Lloris could be convinced to leave if a contract offer was tabled, and that the money would go into both recruiting elsewhere as well as signing a younger replacement, with a number said to be available this summer.

Opinion

Lloris did not have his greatest season in Tottenham colours and there might well have been times when Spurs fans wanted him out the door – that clanger against Liverpool in the league still fresh in the memory. Still, finding someone who is not only a quality shot stopper but a leader at the back is no easy task and you can see why Spurs would want big money for him to go. Paulo Gazzaniga looks a solid if unspectacular option to take the starting role but the truth of the matter is that the club will likely be looking for a high profile figure to replace someone who has been so important to Tottenham over the years. It of course remains to be seen whether anyone is willing to splash the cash for the Frenchman but you can see why Spurs might be tempted to let him go for a hefty fee.
