Jamie O’Hara believes Liverpool may try to sign Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen due to his contract situation.

The former Spurs player shared that with the 27-year-old being in the last year of his current deal than the Reds might try to sign him in the summer.

O’Hara revealed that he thought Eriksen was the type of player Jurgen Klopp’s side needed when analysing what business they should look to do in the transfer window.

“I think they need a central midfielder player, I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that they might try and take Eriksen from Tottenham as he’s on the last year on his deal,” said O’Hara on Sky Sports News (13:32, Monday June 3rd).

“And he’s the type of player they need.”

OPINION

Wow. Tottenham fans everywhere will hope O’Hara’s sneaky suspicion is completely wide of the mark. It would hurt Spurs if he left the club and it would be extra painful if he somehow ended up at Anfield. Eriksen, who earns £75,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac) is a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side shown by the fact he featured 51 times across all competitions for them in his 2018/19 campaign. The 27-year-old was involved in 29% of Spurs’ league goals (Source: Transfermarkt) and across all of his outings; he scored 10 while assisting 17. With numbers like that it’s easy to see that Spurs would miss him. As for Liverpool, it’s fair to say O’Hara is spot-on with what they need. The Reds are crying out for a talented No.10 like Eriksen to arrive and if they had him on their books for the upcoming season, maybe Manchester City would start to sweat about holding onto the Premier League title.
