Newcastle United fans should definitely be excited after the latest comments from the Bin Zayed Group on a potential takeover of the club.
The Newcastle Chronicle claim that they have made contact with the group, who have said that their bid for ownership of the Magpies is “all good”.
This is surely only good news for Newcastle fans in what is turning out to be a very anxious wait over the club’s future. There is no doubt that these processes are complicated and can take a long time to complete, but these latest comments should relieve fans.
If the comments were indeed made, things look like they are progressing well between the Bin Zayed Group and Newcastle. When the first reports of interest from the group came out, there was initial scepticism.
But given the financial benefits that could come with this takeover, Newcastle fans will want the takeover to be completed at all costs.
For so long, they have been put under constraints by current owner Mike Ashley, who has not let the club spend large amounts on players.
If BZG take over at St James’ Park, however, that will all change, with the transfer policy at the club likely to be reversed and Newcastle likely to spend more money than they have in the past.
So it is no wonder fans want this takeover to be completed. News on the proposed move has gone quiet over the past couple of days, but this official update – albeit a small one – will definitely come as welcome news to Newcastle fans.
Fans will of course want more updates in the coming days as the eye of the transfer window storm approaches, but they can at least be relieved now that things seem to be progressing between Newcastle and BZG.
