Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli has scheduled talks with the agent of West Brom striker Salomon Rondon as an offer is readied to take the Newcastle United loanee to Turkey, according to Takvim.

The Turkish newspaper claim on their website that Comolli is to meet with Juan Rodriguez, Rondon’s representative, to discuss what is described as a serious proposal for the Venezuelan hitman, who dazzled on loan from the Hawthorns at St James’ Park last season.

It is stated that Comolli will table an offer for the striker during discussions with Rondon’s agent, having seen the 72-cap international net 12 goals across all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign.

Opinion

Comolli might be willing to offer up a hefty contract to try and take Rondon to Turkey but you would expect the striker’s preference is to remain in England. He looked like he really enjoyed his football under Rafael Benitez at Newcastle and the Magpies would no doubt love to take him on board permanently over the summer. His impressive performances will also have attracted the interest of some other Premier League sides and there is no way Fenerbahce could possibly compete with the money that the English clubs could offer up. West Brom are not going to have much of a say in where he ends up with a widely reported exit clause included in his contract, leaving it up to the striker and his agent to make the final decision. Perhaps the fact Rodriguez has agreed to meet Comolli suggests that the offers from England are yet to land on his desk but he can be confident they will arrive over the summer.
