Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez’s decision on whether he wants to stay at the club this summer is surely only a matter of days away from being announced after the latest report.

The Newcastle Chronicle claims that Newcastle are now waiting on the Spaniard to get back to them with a decision following the conclusion of talks.

It has been a turbulent few weeks for the Magpies ever since they finished their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Fulham. Back then, things looked so bright.

And they still do for Newcastle, but certain rumours and pieces of news have really intensified the last couple of weeks for Newcastle fans’, whose nerves will definitely be shredded by now.

At first, there was the talk of whether Newcastle will be able to keep hold of the likes of Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez, two players who were so key for the Magpies last term.

The futures of those players – and that of midfielder Sean Longstaff – are still to be decided, but this is just one aspect of the last few weeks of news that has ramped up the anxiety.

Out of nowhere, there were – eventually confirmed – rumours that the Bin Zayed Group could take over the Magpies in a £350million deal, which came as a real curveball for Newcastle fans.

Ashley looked to have a stranglehold on the club, but suddenly there was hope that Benitez would finally get the freedom in the transfer market he has craved for so long.

And with this latest report from the Chronicle, it seems as if all this nervousness could all be coming to a head very soon.

If talks are concluded, and Newcastle have done all they can to try to convince Benitez of the package on offer, then it is now just a waiting game, and the manager must decide for himself if he is happy with the offer on the table.

The last few weeks have been hectic for Newcastle fans with so many things going on off the pitch, and this latest report suggests that these things will begin to be resolved in the coming days.

Newcastle fans will by now want a decision made either way, and they will get their hope soon enough.
