Mark Goldbridge wants Manchester United to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma if David De Gea leaves the club.

Goldbridge, who is known as the host of the United Stand, a show which has 460,499 subscribers on YouTube, shared that the 20-year-old Italian shot-stopper would be his number one choice to replace De Gea as he was young and had the potential to be world class.

“IF De Gea goes Donnarumma would be my number one choice to bring in. Young and potential to be World Class,” wrote the YouTube personality on his personal Twitter account.

The Sun reported on Sunday that Man United could end up paying De Gea £30million to leave this summer as he currently plans to run down his contract and leave on a free next summer.

OPINION

Goldbridge may be in dreamland with his pick as the chances of Manchester United signing Donnarumma are slim. However he was simply sharing who he ideally would want to replace De Gea, so who can blame him for dreaming. The current AC Milan keeper featured 39 times for the Italian giants in his 2018/19 campaign and conceded 32 goals while racking up 15 clean sheets. While it wasn’t the best campaign for Donnarumma, his potential to be one of the top keepers in the game one day is known. Man United would be smart to replace 28-year-old De Gea with a younger keeper if he did exit, as he could the No.1 keeper at Old Trafford for many seasons. As for De Gea, it’s hard to imagine him leaving this summer. The Man United shot-stopper, who earns £200,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), may have had a blunder filled 2018/19 campaign but if the club have to pay him a huge amount to leave; it simply doesn’t seem worth it.
