Manchester City are plotting a £50million move for Juventus defender Joao Cancelo, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that Man City are lining up a big-money move for the 25-year-old right-back as Danilo is considering his future at the club.

The Sun report that Danilo wants more regular first-team football after starting only nine Premier League games in his 2018/19 campaign and that Man City will sell him for the right price.

It is believed Pep Guardiola is keen on signing Cancelo as his replacement as he believes the Portuguese flyer can compete with first-choice option Kyle Walker for a place in his starting line-ups.

Good move for Man City?

Yes if Danilo is going.

The Brazilian right-back, who earns £80,000-a-week currently (Source: Spotrac), is right to be considering his future as given his quality, he should be regularly featuring for a side.

Also Walker hasn’t been perfect this season and if he can’t leapfrog the Englishman when he isn’t in the best form, he never will.

However £50million is a lot of money to spend on a player who may not be guaranteed games if Man City opt to replace him with Cancelo.

Yet when you consider the 25-year-old was in fine form for Juventus in his latest season, making 34 appearances, as he racked up eight assists; then perhaps he’d end up being first-choice if signed.

Likely to happen?

Man City are only plotting a move for Cancelo at the moment and seem to be waiting on Danilo to make a decision on his future, so this deal isn’t in the pipeline just yet.

However given how Man City have the money to act fast in the market, you can’t rule out them pouncing on the 25-year-old if Danilo decides to leave.

So this potential deal is definitely one to keep your eyes on.
