Leicester City playmaker James Maddison tipped Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny to have a successful 2019/20 campaign while on loan with Schalke.
The Toffees confirmed on Monday via their official website that the 22-year-old right-back would be spending next season on loan in the Bundesliga with Schalke.
Kenny then took to his personal Instagram to share that he couldn’t wait to get starting with the German club and that he was buzzing to be signing for them.
“Buzzing to sign for @s04 on a season long loan, can’t wait to get started,” wrote the defender.
Kenny’s post prompted Maddison to take to his Instagram account in order to predict success for the Toffees player after this development on Monday as he tipped him to end up in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
“Bundesliga team of the season incoming,” said the Leicester City star.
Kenny has made a bold decision to go out on loan to a German club and hopefully it works out for him. The 22-year-old full-back was on the fringes of Marco Silva’s squad in his 2018/19 campaign, he managed only nine appearances in the league, and it’s clear he needed to get a temporary move for the sake of his development. However few would have imagined that a move would have seen him end up joining a German side. Yet given how he will learn how to play in a different league, get regular football and probably mature as a person due to moving far away from home; this move looks like having all the makings of being a success. The Toffees will be hoping Kenny returns a player capable of breaking into Silva’s first-team in his 2020/21 season as it would save them having to dip into the transfer market to sign a new right-back. Also it’s always nice to see the academy eventually turn out players worthy of the first team.
