Liverpool attacker Ryan Kent is open to joining Leeds United this summer, according to Leeds Live.

The reliable football outlet claim that the 22-year-old winger is open to joining Marcelo Bielsa’s squad ahead of the 2019/20 season but still remains in the dark on what the Reds have planned for him.

Leeds Live report that the Whites’ Director of Football Victor Orta is a long-time admirer of Kent and has previously held talks with the player’s representatives.

Football Insider previously reported that Leeds had been in contact with Liverpool to enquire about taking Kent and Harry Wilson on loan with Bielsa keen to improve his attacking options.

OPINION

This surely gives Leeds a huge boost in their pursuit of Kent as if he is open to joining then half the battle is already won. The Championship club know that they will likely have to fight off other teams to get Kent if Liverpool opt to loan him out, and it works in their favour if he can imagine himself playing at Elland Road. Football Insider’s report stated that a number of teams were circling Kent and Wilson, so it may end up that neither rock up at Elland Road this summer. However if Leeds at least get Kent, then it will be some coup for them. The 22-year-old winger was involved in 15 goals in 46 outings in his 2018/19 campaign while on loan with Rangers. Kent, scored six goals while assisting nine, and could really help the Whites be among the goals next season. While some may question the jump in quality between Scotland’s top-flight and the Championship, it’s worth noting that more often than not, Kent did look a level above when featuring for the Gers.
