Jamie O’Hara has had his say on Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil with the summer transfer window slowly getting under way.

The German international has featured 35 times for the Gunners this season, scoring six and assisting three goals in all competitions for the club.

The former Spurs midfielder believes that his time in a red shirt is limited however, and believes that it is now time for Arsenal to get rid.

O’Hara proceeded to rip Ozil apart for having a poor season and questioned the player’s desire as well as his work rate.

“I think he’s got to go, I think his time is up,” said O’Hara to Sky Sports News. (Monday 3rd June, 13:31)

“I think he’s been poor this season, his work rate, his desire, he’s been really pressured on the ball.

“They need to sell the players they don’t want, Ozil’s got to go for me.”

OPINION

Ozil has been the poster boy of controversy from an Arsenal point of view for a few seasons now, and the question is constantly being asked as to whether he has still got what it takes to be performing at the top level which is the Premier League. He hasn’t been too good this season, and like O’Hara said, the club need to be selling the players which they do not want in this transfer window, to allow for new players to come in. The German international is now 30-years-old, so there is arguably not much more improving that can be done for his career, so it may be worthwhile for the club to begin searching for potential replacements for the midfield maestro, who is arguably way past his peak. Ozil is in contract until 2021 (Source: Transfermrkt) so the Gunners would still be able to cash in on his should they decide to put him up for sale, which arguably, they definitely should do.
