Paris St Germain just won’t give up when it comes to Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye if the latest report is to be believed.

Le 10 Sport reported on Thursday that the French giants were once again mentioning the 29-year-old Toffees’ name behind-the-scene while deciding who to sign this summer.

The French outlet pointed out that PSG tried to court the services of Gueye in the winter window to no avail, and it seems they’re ready to try again.

Le 10 Sport’s report even stated that PSG’s high-profile manager Thomas Tuchel would openly push the club to try to sign Gueye as he is keen on him after admiring his profile.

Tuchel, who won Ligue 1 with PSG in his 2018/19 season, clearly is trying to put his own stamp on the side still after becoming manager of the French giants in May last year.

Given that PSG circling again seems believable, with Tuchel on board, it’s clear the Toffees should pull down the shutters at Goodison Park and stand firm over their stance on Gueye.

The Daily Mirror previously reported that the Toffees had put PSG off trying to sign Gueye as they made it clear they had no intention of selling and wouldn’t budge given that the player is under contract until 2022.

There’s no reason to believe that if the Toffees stand firm once again, that once again PSG will go running off with their tail between their legs in order to find someone else to sign.

Gueye is very important to Marco Silva’s side and the Toffees cannot afford to sell him if they really want to move forward as a club next season.

The 29-year-old played 35 times across all competitions for the Toffees, and only missed four of Everton’s league games.

And it’s very telling that in the four league games he missed, Everton managed to pick up only four points in those matches.

Gueye is a tough-tackling midfielder who chases every loose ball down and ensures his side wins the midfield battle; and when he is missing, Everton’s opponents have an easier time driving forward towards goal.

So the Toffees should know what to do if PSG come calling for Gueye, and that’s refuse their advances no matter what they are.
