Everton should be scrambling to put together a respectable offer for Ajax attacker David Neres as Paris-St Germain are having to wait before making a move.

UOL reported on Thursday that PSG had already met with Neres’ representatives but were some distance away from reaching an agreement as there isn’t space for him in their team.

The Brazilian website claimed that Paris St Germain had put Ángel Di María on the market in order to help them raise the funds to match Neres’ £43million (€50million) price tag and open up a place in their squad that would see the 22-year-old winger utilised.

However UOL’s report noted that PSG had been told that Neres would prefer a move to an English club and the website also pointed out the Toffees were in advanced negotiations for him.

It is believed that Everton would be willing to gamble on the 22-year-old winger after previously seeing Brazilian duo Richarlison and Bernard do well at Goodison Park.

Given that UOL don’t list any other English club as being in advanced negotiations for Neres, then what are the Toffees waiting for?

PSG clearly can’t act on their interest for the Ajax winger until Di Maria is off their books and even if they were able to, if Neres has his heart set on a move to England; he isn’t going to jump at the chance to join them.

Yet he may lap up the chance to play for the Toffees if they act sooner rather than later.

Neres scored 12 goals, while assisting 15, in 50 outings for Ajax in his 2018/19 campaign and impressed due to his slick dribbling skills as well as his passing ability, he had an 84% pass completion rate (Source: Who Scored), in his latest season.

The 22-year-old, who is at an age where he can get better, would be a fantastic signing for Everton to make given how amazing he looked in his latest campaign and he’d help Marco Silva take the team forward.

So based on this update, the Toffees should be scrambling to act as they may just get him.
