French publication L’Equipe reported on Saturday that Everton are interested in a move for Lyon winger Bertrand Traore. The 23-year-old has made big improvements since moving to France and bagged 11 goals and five assists for Bruno Genesio’s side this season. He’s not a world class operator, there’s no question of that, but he’s young, he has potential and he is a legitimately talented winger. He’s versatile, too, capable of playing out wide and through the middle. That could come in useful for Marco Silva, who has been unable to find a striking solution so far on Merseyside. Still, the Toffees faithful don’t seem very happy about this link, do they? One of them makes the point that Traore is inconsistent, which is true, but as long as director of football Marcel Brands doesn’t spend over the odds, then this surely isn’t too bad of a move? Despite that, the Everton fans seem pretty united in their disdain for this potential move.
