Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier should try and fight for his place at Spurs and snub any approach from Manchester United.

According to Football Insider, the Manchester club have made an approach to sign the defensive midfielder, to fill the midfield gap at Old Trafford ahead of the new Premier League season.

However, a move to Manchester may not be the right move for the England international, who should stay in North London and fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven.

Dier has only featured 28 times for Spurs in all competitions this season, which is arguably not as much as he may have liked, however a move to United could cause him to be subject to even less games, depending on the futures of various United players.

If Paul Pogba was to stay at United, it seems highly unlikely that there would be much room for his involvement in the eyes of Ole Gunnar Solskjær and for that reason the 6ft 2in midfielder (Source: Transfermrkt), should stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There is also the idea that arguably, Spurs are a better club to be playing for in this day and age, after reaching the Champions League final and finishing in third position last season.

This seems leaps and bounds ahead of United, who finished in 6th position, failing to qualify for next seasons Champions League, which begs the question as to why Dier would leave the club this summer.

It would be better for Dier’s career to stay in North London, as making the move to Old Trafford could be a huge risk, and at the age of 25, arguably in his peak, the England international can’t afford to be benched on a regular basis.
