Celtic are plotting to raid Premier League giants Arsenal for young full back Jordi Osei-Tutu on loan, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the 20-year-old, who is yet to make his debut for the Gunners, is ready to leave north London in search for first team football, the Gunners weighing up whether to let him go on loan or permanently with a new contract to be offered his way.

It is stated that Celtic have been in pursuit of the defender alongside Championship side Brentford, but that a move to Germany could be on the cards after the success of Jadon Sancho.

Good move for Celtic?

A right back by trade, the Hoops are in desperate need of someone who can take Mikael Lustig’s place in their back line and so you can see why he is someone they are keen on.

His lack of top flight, or even first team, football makes it difficult to judge just how much he would be able to offer at Parkhead, but he definitely seems to have impressed at youth and reserve level.

He has helped the under-23 side to silverware since making that step up but the question is whether he can take another big leap to playing senior football at a club with the size and demands of Celtic.

He should not be viewed as the man to fill the void which may be left by Lustig this summer – more experience is a must.

Likely to happen?

If Arsenal send him out on loan then Celtic are a club where he is going to learn his trade among winners.

The Hoops would definitely stand a chance of signing him on loan but the problem might be his desire for a permanent move.

One to watch, but do not expect anything soon as the club and player weighs up his future.
