Porto keen on Ntcham

Portuguese giants FC Porto are keen on rekindling their interest in Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, according to the Daily Record.

The 23-year-old is already attracting the attention of Marseille, according to Foot Mercato, but it is believed that Porto are willing to go toe to toe with the Ligue 1 side to secure his signature.

The Portuguese club sent scouts to watch Ntcham represent France’s U21s on Monday night, and even though he only came on for the last 15 minutes, it is claimed that they are willing to reignite an interest that saw them have a £13 million bid rejected last summer, as reported by Goal.

Good move for Celtic?

Potentially, yes. Ntcham has a shedload of potential, that certainly isn’t in doubt, but he hasn’t always hit the heights that he promises to at Parkhead, and it could prove to be a decent bit of business to move him now. If they can get a fee in the region of the £13 million they were offered last summer, or perhaps even more considering the bidding war that is likely to ensue, this could be a decent way of getting a good lump sum through the door this window. Reinvest it wisely and Ntcham will soon be forgotten.

Likely to happen?

It feels as if these rumours aren’t going anywhere to be honest. First it was Marseille, not it’s Porto, and it feels as if the likelihood of Ntcham being at the centre of transfer tussle this summer is rising all the time. Obviously, if Celtic don’t want to sell they don’t want to sell, but everybody has their price, and if they can be lured with a large enough fee, there is no reason why they wouldn’t look to sell Ntcham on, especially if that helped fund moves for other targets that are being mooted around Parkhead.
