Harry Wilson will play in the Premier League next season, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The 22-year-old winger, who spent last season on loan at Derby County, scoring 18 goals in the process, has been linked with a move to Elland Road, with Football Insider claiming that United have made an approach over a possible loan move this summer.

But Nixon is of the belief that Wilson will be plying his trade in the top flight next term.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “Leeds have wanted Wilson for some time.

“But he will be in Prem next season.”

OPINION

This is a real blow for Leeds. To be fair, the chances are that most fans will have assumed a move for Wilson was a tad ambitious anyway, but this appears to firmly put out any fizzling ambitions they may have had. To be fair to Wilson, he has the potential to kick on and make a really decent name for himself in the English game, but the next logical step he needs to take to achieve that is for him to go to a club in the top flight and show that he can mix it at the highest level. There have perhaps been suspicions at times this season that he is something of highlights reel player, and that his moments of audacity paper over certain cracks in his consistency. Others would argue against that fact, and the only way he is ever going to dispel the doubts is to show that he can perform in the Premier League.
