After a terrible start to the previous Premier League season, it could come as a surprise that Newcastle are preparing for another year in the top flight.

Last season is the least of their worries at this moment in time, with the future of Rafael Benitez in the air and the constant ongoing reports of the club being sold.

This means despite constant links, no player has been brought in by the club as of yet. An area of concern for Magpies’ fans is their lack of forwards at the club since Salomon Rondon’s departure back to West Brom.

One of the latest names linked with the club was that of Club Brugge striker, Wesley Moraes. Newcastle were reported by the Chronicle to hold an interest in the Brazilian back in May.

The latest report from Belgian outlet, HLN claims that Lazio have had a £15.9million rejected with the Belgian club holding out for £26million amid interest from Newcastle. Should this be the case, the Magpies should put an offer in instantly to prise away their main man.

At only 22-years-old, Wesley has great potential to keep improving after scoring 17 and assisting 10 goals in his 47 appearances this season. At 6’2″ [Source: Transfermarkt], the Brazilian could fill the hole left by the physical Rondon and form a great partnership with Ayoze Perez and Miguel Almiron.

His physicality is difficult for defenders to deal with and add to that his ability to score goals with ease and Benitez could be onto a winner with the Brugge man. Newcastle must act quickly to beat rivals to the signature of Wesley, who is ready for Premier League football early in his career.
