Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to hand a new contract to in-demand attacker Bright Enobakhare, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper claims that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side see the 21-year-old as someone with huge potential, and want to keep him long-term after triggering a one-year extension option in his deal that was set to expire this summer.

The Nigerian enjoyed a tremendous loan spell with Coventry City during the second half of this season, and the Sky Blues are said to be trying to secure his signing on a £600,000 permanent deal.

However, they are just one of several teams in the Championship and League One who are tracking Enobakhare. Wolves, though, are keen for him to remain at Molineux.

OPINION

Yeah, it would be a terrible decision to allow Enobakhare to fly the nest this summer. The young man is a wonderful prospect with tremendous potential who really kicked on while with Coventry this campaign. Obviously being successful in League One is no indicator of a player’s ability to make an impact at Premier League level, but the signs are there that Enobakhare could grow into a crucially important player for Nuno’s side. The Portuguese isn’t overly blessed with talented attackers beyond Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota, so to let Enobakhare go at this stage of his career would be a big mistake. It seems that the club see it that way, too, though. They are keen to tie him down to a new contract and view him as someone with enormous potential. That will be very encouraging news for the Wolves faithful, who likely feel the same about the youngster.
