Yerry Mina will not leave Everton this summer, according to the player’s agent.

The 6’3″ Colombian [Transfermarkt] had been linked with a loan move to Fenerbahce, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, but Jair Mina, his representative and uncle has moved to deny the rumours.

As quoted by Turkish outlet Aspor, he said: “Yerry Mina will certainly not leave Everton.

“This type of transfer news is purely gossip.

“Mina owes Everton and has to prove himself.”

OPINION

This is brilliant news for Everton. Mina may not have been at the top of his game last season, but he showed during the World Cup last summer that there is a real player aching to get out. If he can get a good run in the side and some confidence under his belt, then there is no reason to believe that he can’t replicate that kind of form for the Toffees. He has all the attributes to be a real success for the Blues. He is physically domineering, intelligent in his reading of the game, and a real threat from set pieces. Sometimes his concentration lapses, which has been his main issue at Goodison so far, but if he can put those mistakes to bed, Everton could have a real player on their hands. It’s good to hear his agent talk in such definite terms, and really promising to hear him say that the player feels as if he owes the club. Hopefully they can start getting the best out of him.
