After missing out on promotion to the Premier League so agonisingly last season, Leeds want to conduct their transfer business quickly so that Marcelo Bielsa has a full pre-season to work with his squad.

This will help the Argentine in getting his players up to scratch in terms of fitness and playing style ahead of another push for promotion to the top-flight come next season.

One of the first players to be linked with a move to the club was Wolves winger Helder Costa, with Football Insider reporting that the Whites have enquired about a potential loan move for the Portuguese international.

Former Leeds defender Danny Mills revealed to the same reputable football outlet on Saturday, that he believes his ex-club stand a great chance of enticing the attacker to the club, down to one man.

Mills said to Football Insider: “I think Leeds have a good chance of signing him. A big attraction for Premier League players joining Leeds is Bielsa. That’s what Costa will be looking at, thinking he wants to play for Bielsa. He will want to play week in, week out as well, so you could see this happening.”

The former England international is bang on with assessment of the potential move for Costa, who will certainly want more playing time after a disappointing campaign with Wolves.

If Costa decides to link up with the former Argentina boss then the potential for success at Leeds next season could be limitless.

It would be a perfect match for both the player and manager, as Costa would get consistent game time every week and Bielsa would gain a winger with a direct style that he has been craving since arriving at Elland Road.

The 25-year-old could recapture the form he had in his breakthrough season at Wolves or go even better under Bielsa after Costa was involved in 23 goals in his 40 appearances after arriving from Benfica in 2016 on an initial loan.

If Mills’ analysis is correct, then Leeds might well be able to get another couple of high profile signings and it is all thanks to Bielsa’s reputation.
