Peterborough United Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has claimed Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos is not good enough for the Premier League and would struggle to score goals.

MacAnthony, writing on his personal twitter account, went on to suggest that Birmingham forward Che Adams is miles better than the Colombian when replying to a fan who thought Morelos was worth more than the Championship striker.

The Peterborough owner wrote: “Playing in Scotland no disrespect and awful record discipline wise. Score goals in champ possibly but not sure in Prem. Could be wrong. Just my opinion. Adams miles better.”

Both Morelos and Adams have been linked with moves to the Premier League after excelling at their respective clubs.

Colombian international, Morelos has scored 30 goals and assisted 11 in his 48 appearances under Steven Gerrard and Newcastle were reported by Don Balon to be interested in launching a £20million offer for his services this summer.

Adams, on the other hand, scored 22 and assisted five goals in his latest campaign in the Championship.

OPINION

This could cause a few arguments between fans of both clubs. No matter what happens, Rangers fans will back Morelos and Birmingham fans will support Che Adams. The truth of the matter is that both players are very different in their playing styles when they lead the line. There is the suggestion that Morelos does come up against worst teams than Adams does in the Championship but putting that to one side there is a clear difference between the two. Gers’ forward Morelos, plays like a pit bull, always in the face of the defender while looking for opportunities to sniff out his next goal. This can get him into trouble more often than not with him earning four red cards this season alone. Adams is all about his pace and power, on and off the ball – the 22-year-old has English experience under his belt with many years in the Championship and a move to the Premier League could be closer for the former Sheffield United man then it is for Alfredo Morelos.
